Chrysler's line of imaginary electric vehicles keeps growing. It started with the iconic Wrangler, the Town and Country minivan and the newly named Dodge Circuit sports car. Today the Jeep Patriot will join the ranks of the eco-friendly lineup.
The Patriot, which will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show today will be an extended-range electric vehicle capable of 40 miles of pure electric travel. A small gas engine will allow for 400 miles of total driving (a la Chevy Volt).
"...The Patriot EV provides socially responsible, advanced electric technology in the industry’s most capable compact SUV,” said Lou Rhodes, President, – ENVI, and Vice President, Advance Vehicle Engineering, Chrysler LLC. Lest you forget that this is an electric car, Chrysler has strategically placed enormous EV decals on both sides of it.
With an estimated 0 to 60 time of 8 seconds, the Patriot EV would be faster than the all-wheel drive variants that Car and Driver has tested. Judging by Chrysler's recent conversations with Congress, this Jeep should be on the road in, say, a year or so, right?
